PATHS Patient Advocacy Training Seminars
Our training seminars will teach you how to put yourself on your medical team. You and your family (or chosen advocate) will learn the following:
- how to choose medical providers and treatment centers
- how to build a collaborative approach with your Doctors
- advocacy and problem-solving skills
- how to evaluate your own critical and special needs
- what information doctors seek that you can provide
- where to find support and assistance
- how to work with your Insurer
Anyone can benefit by empowering themselves and developing tools to navigate their medical journey.
- Why is Patient Advocate Training needed? Rare is the individual that has not been touched by chronic illness — spouse, child, parent, sibling, or friend. Doctors tell us that patients with advocates do better. When the patient and an advocate form a team and are trained, they have a more successful medical journey. But even during a wellness check up, a patient or parent must advocate for themselves or their child and that requires learned skills, which PATHS offers. Our seminat teaches skills that can be applied immediately and can benefit even the healthy person.
- Have you found yourself or a loved one with several medical conditions and multiple doctors? These all need coordination to provide the best unified care plan for the patient.
- I’m doing fine right now, can’t I wait? No, don’t wait until you are in an acute situation. Make the time now when things are relatively smooth to learn and plan.
PATHS teaches patient teams - the patient and their designated advocate - to be proactive in improving medical care. Remember "knowledge is power".
Our 7-step training program is 2 1/2 hours long, begins at 7 PM and ends at 9:30 PM. There is a short break in-between. To receive the maximum benefit, people are strongly encouraged to take this training as a team of two (patient and their chosen advocate). See below for dates, times, and location.
PATHS training may also be done at your site. Call Chris Lang at 1-978-264-9770 for details.
Our fee is $50.00 per team of two. If this is not possible please email Chris at chris@patientpaths.org to discuss your individual questions / concerns. To reserve your seats and view the registration page, please click on the "Go" link under the "Registration category".
